Kia's EV Sales Surge with Big Plans for 2025

Kia"s electric vehicle sales have seen significant growth over the past year, surpassing 200,000 units sold. The company expects to maintain this momentum in 2025 with the launch of a comprehensive lineup of iconic electric vehicles.
In its announcement of the fourth-quarter results for 2024 on Friday, Kia expressed optimism for further growth in 2025, driven by the introduction of new, affordable electric vehicles.
Kia"s global sales reached approximately 770,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter of last year, marking a 5% increase compared to the previous year.
Eco-friendly vehicles, including electric and hybrid models, were the primary drivers of this growth. Sales of these vehicles rose by 14.5% during the fourth quarter, reaching around 164,000 units.
Among these, hybrid vehicles accounted for nearly 100,000 units, reflecting a notable 31.7% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2023. The "Carnival Hybrid" in the U.S. and the "K8 Hybrid" in Korea were among the standout contributors to this growth.
Overall, electric and hybrid vehicles represented 21.5% of Kia"s total sales in the last quarter of 2024, up from 19.9% in the same period in 2023.
Throughout 2024, Kia sold approximately 638,000 eco-friendly vehicles, including 367,000 hybrid cars, 71,000 plug-in hybrids, and 201,000 fully electric vehicles.
Kia expects its annual sales to grow by an additional 4% in 2025, reaching 3.216 million units compared to 3.089 million units last year. This confidence is attributed to anticipated sales growth in Europe and North America, supported by the launch of new hybrid and electric models.
