These materials can be reused to manufacture new batteries, reducing the environmental impact of mining and production.

Companies like Redwood Materials and Li-Cycle are leading the way in developing closed-loop battery recycling systems that aim to recover over 90% of valuable materials.

Old electric car batteries don’t go straight to landfill. Instead, they enter a well-defined lifecycle: first reuse, then recycling. As the EV market grows, building efficient systems to manage battery life after cars is essential—not just for sustainability, but for the future of energy itself.
